iOS 17 is expected to launch later this year with new iPhones. According to a reliable report by Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, Apple’s next OS version will bring various performance improvements along with additional features.
In iOS 17, one of the interesting new features will allow users to utilize their locked iPhones as smart displays. This functionality will display calendar appointments, weather information, and notifications in a distinct style similar to independent smart displays.
When the iPhone is in landscape orientation, the new view is said to appear exclusively. The purpose of this feature is to enhance the usability of iPhones when placed on desks or nightstands. It will have a dark background and bright text, ensuring easy readability when activated.
Apple is reportedly developing a new horizontal interface for iPads, although the release timing is uncertain due to Apple’s slower adoption of iPhone features on its tablets. Additionally, Apple is said to be working on a low-cost tablet that can magnetically attach to walls and stands, but progress on this project seems to be moving slowly.
AirPlay is expected to have a greater presence in hotels and other locations with TVs and speakers. The upcoming version of Apple’s mobile software, iOS 17, will include upgrades to AirPlay and SharePlay, although the specifics of these enhancements are unclear.
