With Twitter’s new feature, users can attach multiple formats to one tweet in an effort to make tweeting faster. A user could attach an image, a video, and a GIF to one tweet.
Twitter has always been for one type of media — pictures. For those who are new to Twitter, the company only allows a single kind to be uploaded at a time. You can attach up to a maximum of 4 images, along with videos and GIFs. However, you cannot mix images with the video or Gif.
Within the update, there is now a limit of four media types but you can have any combination with an image in one slot, an image and one video side by side; or two images and a video.
Speaking with TechCrunch, Twitter revealed that the company is testing a new feature that will allow users to combine up to four different media assets into one tweet. Not only will these tweets have a better structure, but they can also be visually engaging because people are using images, GIFs and videos. With this test, Twitter plans to learn how people use these different formats of media to express themselves in creative ways on their platform beyond 280 characters.
Twitter is conducting tests of its upcoming feature that will be restricted to selected users in select markets. The timeline feature is in development and there’s no information yet on when it will go live.
