Design and Display

The Samsung S5690 Galaxy Xcover is a smartphone with a rugged design that is built to withstand tough environments. It has a compact form factor, with dimensions of 121.5 x 65.9 x 12 mm and a weight of 100g, making it easy to carry around.

The phone uses a Mini-SIM card to connect to cellular networks, allowing users to make calls and access the internet from virtually anywhere.

The Samsung S5690 Galaxy Xcover features an IPS LCD display, which offers good viewing angles and color accuracy. The screen measures 3.65 inches diagonally and has a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels, providing decent image quality for browsing the web, watching videos, or playing games.

To protect the display from scratches and cracks, Samsung has incorporated Corning Gorilla Glass into the design. This highly durable glass material helps to keep the phone’s screen in pristine condition even after extended use.

Processor

The Samsung S5690 Galaxy Xcover operates on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, which was released in 2010. This version of Android was one of the most popular mobile operating systems at the time and was known for its user-friendly interface and customizable features.

Gingerbread introduced several new features to Android, including improved copy-and-paste functionality, support for multiple cameras, and a new download manager for easier file downloads. It also improved battery life and performance compared to its predecessor, Android 2.2 Froyo.

The phone is powered by an 800 MHz Marvell MG2 processor, which is a single-core processor that was commonly used in mid-range smartphones of that era. While it may not be the most powerful processor, it is still capable of handling basic tasks such as web browsing, social media, and email.

The combination of Gingerbread and the Marvell MG2 processor provides a reliable and responsive user experience. The OS is also compatible with a wide range of apps, allowing users to download and use popular apps such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google Maps.

Camera

The Samsung S5690 Galaxy Xcover has a camera with a resolution of 3.15 megapixels and autofocus (AF) capability. The camera also features an LED flash, which provides additional lighting when capturing photos or videos in low-light conditions. The video resolution for this camera is 480p, which is standard definition (SD) quality.

Memory

The Samsung S5690 Galaxy Xcover comes with two types of memory: internal and external.

The internal memory of the phone is divided into two parts: 150MB of storage space and 512MB of RAM. The 150MB of storage space is where you can store apps, photos, music, and other data on the phone. However, this space is limited and can fill up quickly, especially if you install a lot of apps or store large files.

The 512MB of RAM is where the phone’s operating system and apps are stored while they are in use. This memory is essential for the phone to run smoothly and quickly. The more RAM a phone has, the more apps it can run simultaneously without slowing down.

The Samsung S5690 Galaxy Xcover also has a card slot that supports microSDHC cards. This means you can insert a microSDHC card into the phone to expand its storage capacity. A dedicated slot means that the card slot is solely for the microSDHC card and cannot be used for anything else.

Sound and Features

The Samsung S5690 Galaxy Xcover is a smartphone that comes equipped with a range of features designed to enhance its usability and functionality. One of the features that the phone comes with is a loudspeaker. The loudspeaker is a built-in component that allows users to play music and other audio content without the need for headphones. This is especially useful when listening to music with friends or in a group setting.

Another feature of the Samsung S5690 Galaxy Xcover is the 3.5mm headphone jack. This standard headphone jack allows users to connect their headphones or external speakers to the phone for better audio quality. The headphone jack is a convenient feature for those who prefer using wired headphones or external speakers.

The phone supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, which enables users to connect to wireless networks and access the internet without using their cellular data. This feature is especially useful for those who are on limited data plans or are in areas with poor cellular reception. The phone also has hotspot capabilities, which means that users can share their internet connection with other devices.

The Samsung S5690 Galaxy Xcover comes with Bluetooth 3.0, A2DP, and EDR capabilities. These features enable users to connect wirelessly to other Bluetooth-enabled devices, such as headphones, speakers, or car stereos. The A2DP profile provides better audio quality while streaming music and EDR allows for faster data transfer.

The phone has GPS and A-GPS capabilities, which allow users to navigate and find their location using satellite signals. A-GPS is a faster and more accurate version of GPS that uses both satellite signals and data from cellular networks. These features are especially useful for those who travel frequently or require location-based services.

The Samsung S5690 Galaxy Xcover comes with a stereo FM radio and RDS (Radio Data System). The FM radio feature allows users to listen to their favorite FM stations while on the go, and the RDS feature provides information about the currently playing song or program.

The phone has a micro USB 2.0 port, which allows users to connect it to a computer or other USB-enabled devices for data transfer or charging. The phone also comes with an accelerometer, proximity sensor, and compass, which provide various functions such as screen rotation, auto-brightness adjustment, and direction-finding.

The Samsung S5690 Galaxy Xcover supports MP4 and H.264 video formats and has a built-in player that allows users to watch videos on the go. It also supports MP3, WAV, and eAAC+ audio formats and has a built-in music player for listening to favorite songs. The phone comes with a photo and video editor that enables users to edit and enhance their photos and videos. The phone also has a document editor that allows users to create, edit, and view Microsoft Office documents (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) on the go.

Battery

The Samsung S5690 Galaxy Xcover is equipped with a removable Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery. This battery type is known for its reliability and safety, and it can be easily replaced if it becomes damaged or worn out over time. The battery provides enough power to keep the phone running for up to 13 hours and 20 minutes of talk time on 2G, or up to 11 hours on 3G. The standby time on 3G is impressive, as it can last up to 640 hours.

The phone is available in the color Gray, which gives it a sleek and modern look. The Gray color is a popular choice for electronic devices, as it is neutral and can easily match with other accessories or outfits.

The Samsung S5690 Galaxy Xcover is priced at around 90 EUR, which is a reasonable price for a smartphone with these features and capabilities.
